Session Description

Neuroscience has provided educators with a fascinating glimpse into the inner workings of the brain. Some of the findings have affirmed what many teachers have long known intuitively while others have challenged our assumptions and practices. During the webcast, Garfield will share some of the key findings in brain research and their implications for teaching and learning. Several practical social studies examples for creating a brain compatible classroom will be shared. Participants will:
  • become aware of major findings in brain reserach that pertain to teaching and learning
  • Reflect on the degree to which theri current practice is brain compatible
consider refinements to their teaching practice that might enhance student learning
