4:20 pm – 5:59 pm
Session Description
When introducing history in the primary grades, students are often simply presented with the facts. Few students at this level have the tools to look at the past in a critically thoughtful way. Building on the work of Peter Sexias, Roland Case will illustrate how to embed historical thinking through the primary curriculum by introducing students, through pictures, artifacts, children's literature and personal histories, to six six kinds of problems raised by the study of history.
PLEASE BRING A COPY OF THE SOCIAL STUDIES PROGRAM OF STUDY FOR YOUR GRADE LEVEL AS WELL PRINTING AND BRINGING TWO HANDOUTS BELOW.

Welcome to the webcast series "99 Minutes of Social Studies." Here's hoping this portal will provide some room for teachers to get questions answered, post ideas, and receive feedback as they join in the discussion of the new social studies curriculum. Thanks for checking in!
